MARILYN MILLER DONATES HANDMADE ITEMS FOR FUND RAISERS

Marilyn Miller of Rock Avenue in Chestertown donated two crocheted tablecloths to the Helpers Fund to be used to raise money for their various projects. One of the table coverings is 48” in diameter and the other one is 78” in diameter.

“The larger one took me a bit longer to make then the smaller one. The larger one,” Marilyn went on to say “took about nine months.”  When they were given to the Fund that day at the Bagel Girls Deli where Marilyn works during the week, there was a “what goes into something like that! They’re magnificent!”

When asked how she found the time to do this work, since she works at the Bagel Girls Deli during the week, she said, “my husband, Bill, is a fanatical Mets fan, so I can always get a few hours of undisturbed work whenever a game is on.”

At its recent board meeting the Board of Directors decided that the 48” diameter table covering would be a “silent auction” item at their Annual Meeting held at Friends Lake Inn in November. And the larger one would be raffled off, like the quilt raffles, in the early spring. Everyone would be able to buy a raffle ticket for the larger table covering, and it would be on display at a local business while the raffle was going on.

“The proceeds from the fund raising of both items,” said Carl Lamm, Director of the Fund, “would almost certainly go into the Medical Hardship Fund.” This is a fund which assists those facing extreme circumstances in their lives. “We anticipate a need in this area in the coming months, based upon the information we have received lately, so it will really help us in this area.”
